BRAZIL: Bolo Salgado



Bolo Salgado

2 cups flour


1 tablespoon baking powder


1 1/2 teaspoon. salt


2 cups milk


1 egg


1/4 cup grated Parmesan

½ lbs ground beef, sautéed and drained

1 large tomato, seeded and chopped

½ tablespoon vinegar

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Mix first 6 ingredients together in one bowl, and second 3 in another.

  2. Grease a 9x13 pan with butter. Add half of the dough mixture, spread evenly. Top with all of the meat mixture, spread evenly. Add remaining dough mixture, spread evenly. Bake 30 minutes.


Roasted Sweet Potatoes

2 large yams or sweet potatoes

1 tablespoon olive oil

½ teaspoon salt

  1. Heat over to 350. Peel and cube (into 1-inch piece) potatoes. Line a half sheet pan with foil. Toss potatoes, olive oil, and salt together. Roast until tender, about 45 minutes.
